What should I identify when ordering replacement wireline drill rods?
Provide the existing coring system brand, model or drawing, and specify whether you need drill rods or a core barrel assembly. Include photos of both rod connections and any tool markings, plus rod length, actual outside diameter, connection dimensions, quantity and rig model. Compatibility requires a review of the specific system and mating dimensions; the name “wireline drill rod” alone is not sufficient.

What weight information is needed for a lightweight drill pipe enquiry?
Specify whether the comparison is based on weight per rod or weight per metre. Include the existing rod outside diameter, length, connection dimensions and measured weight. If you have a weight-reduction target, also describe the rig, drilling application and operating requirements so that proposals can be compared on a consistent basis. Material, wall thickness and final weight are subject to the agreed specification.
For friction-welded drill pipe, identify the joint drawing, requested inspection items and delivery documentation. The inspection scope must be agreed before ordering. Send drill pipe specifications for a quotation.
Drill Pipe Joints & Locking Couplings
A drill pipe joint must match the existing drill string and machine interface. Send the thread standard, drawing, sample photos and mating dimensions when requesting tool joints or wireline locking couplings.
How can I request a drill pipe joint without a drawing?
Send overall, thread and end-face photos of the existing joint, together with the rig model, drilling application, rod outside diameter, length and quantity. Specify whether you need a complete drill rod or a separate joint, and identify the mating connection. A nominal rod size such as 76 mm or 89 mm does not identify the connection. Mating dimensions still need confirmation before quotation.
Send joint photos and purchasing requirements. For a wireline locking coupling, also identify its position and function in the existing tool assembly so it is not confused with a standard drill pipe connection.
